Former Lady Saluqi Aisha Barker is in her 19th year as assistant coach. In her time as assistant coach, the Southwest women’s basketball team has compiled a 289-198 record including three TCCAA Western Division championships and one Region VII runner-up. Barker played for Coach Herbert Wright during the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons. Her freshman season, she made the All-West Division team, and as a sophomore made both the All-West Division and All-TCCAA teams. Both years, Barker was named the Lady Saluqis' "Team MVP", and was on the Region VII All-Tournament team as well.

She came to Shelby State from Raleigh-Egypt High School in Memphis, where she played for coach Isaiah Wade. Barker was team MVP as a senior, and led the Lady Pharaohs in assists and free throw percentage her senior season. Barker received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Recreation from Tougaloo College in 2001 and is currently a District Behavioral Specialist for the Shelby County Schools.

Barker and her husband, David, have a daughter - Daisha DanYelle and a son, David DeShaun.
