Erik Schoenrock, a former standout pitcher at The University of Memphis and minor league all-star in the San Diego Padres organization, is in his fifth season as Southwest Tennessee Community College’s head baseball coach. Schoenrock guided the Saluqis to a school-record 44 wins last spring. In addition, the 2023 squad was nationally ranked by several publications.

Schoenrock came to Southwest from Nicholls State University in Thibodeaux, Louisiana, where he was a Volunteer Assistant Coach and his duties included serving as the field coordinator, developing pitchers and catchers, camp coordination, and recruiting. Prior to Nicholls State, he spent one season with The University of Memphis as a Student Assistant Coach, working with pitchers and first basemen. In addition, Schoenrock was the pitching coach for the Licking County Settlers in the summer of 2015, leading them to a third place finish in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. In the spring of 2015, he was the pitching coach for St. George’s Independent School, helping lead the Gryphons’ to the TSSAA Division 2A state championship.

A native of Collierville, Tennessee, Schoenrock was a four-year letter winner for Coach Jeff Hopkins at Collierville High School. He helped lead the Dragons to three state semi-final appearances and was named All-District, All-Metro and All-Region. Schoenrock played for his father, Tigers’ head coach Daron Schoenrock, at The University of Memphis and was named first team All-Conference USA and the 2013 Conference USA Pitcher of the Year. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 11th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft. While playing for the Class A Eugene Emeralds, Schoenrock was named Northwest League Pitcher of the Year, a Minor League All-Star and played in the Northwest League All-Star Game.
